The Total Gym XLS Beats Bowflex

In-home all-in-one exercise machines do a booming business in people who, for whatever reason, prefer to exercise at home. Bowflex has been doing this booming business for over 15 years, running many late-night infomercials, which a surprisingly number of people seem to manage to see. The Total Gym is a competitor in the field of home exercise equipment which is also well know. So if you’re trying to decide, you’ll want to know what the answer is to the Bowflex Treadclimber versus The Total Gym.

The item that springs to mind when people hear about Bowflex is not usually their Treadclimber. The Treadclimber is actually a sort of combination stairmaster/treadmill/elliptical machine that claims to give a high-intensity workout in a short period of time. In fact, going 3 mph on the Treadclimber is supposed to be equivalent to going 6 mph on a regular treadmill.

There is a space advantage to a Treadclimber over any of the other machines it might replace. While an average treadmill is 7 feet long, the Treadclimber is just 4 feet long. It isn’t light, though– it weighs around 185 pounds completely set up, which doesn’t make it much of a candidate for being moved about. And the extremely obese will need to find another machine, because it’s only safety rated up to 300 pounds.
